Awards

The Society for Analytic Philosophy triennially awards three prizes. The Wolfgang-Stegmüller-Award and the ontos-Award aim at advancing philosophers in the early stages of their career, the Frege-Award is awarded for a highly acclaimed German speaking philosopher for outstanding achievements in the field of analytic philosophy.

I. Frege-Award 2012

The members of the society were to suggest candidates, and from these suggestions the committee selected the winner. The Frege-Award 2012 goes to

Rüdiger Bittner

In his honour there will be a special colloquium at GAP.8. The colloquium has the title Autonomy, individual and political, and it will feature a lecture by Rüdiger Bittner, as well as two lectures about Bittner's work by Sarah Buss (Ann Arbor) and Thomas E. Hill (Chapel Hill). The colloquium takes place on Wednesday 19.9.2012 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

II. Wolfgang-Stegmüller-Award 2012

On the occasion of its 8th congress, the Society for Analytic Philosophy (Gesellschaft für Analytische Philosophie e.V. (GAP)) awards for the seventh time the Wolfang-Stegmüller-Award.

The award is donated by Margret Stegmüller and it is awarded for outstanding work on the field of analytic philosophy. Eligible are works of any length (language: German or English), published or not, whose author is not older than 40 years by expiration of the proposal period, has no permanent scientific employment and is German-speaking or works in a German-speaking country.

The award is endowed with 12,000 Euros and is usually split between three awardees.

Submission should include a letter detailing reasons for the nomination (no more than 1000 words), Curriculum Vitae of the candidate, and three copies of the work. Send submissions to:

III. ontos-Award 2012

In collaboration with the Society for Analytic Philosophy (Gesellschaft für Analytische Philosophie e.V. (GAP)), the ontos verlag donates the

Award for furthering scientific research in the field of analytical ontology and metaphysics.

At GAP.8, the prize will be awarded for the fourth time.

This prize awards 2,000 Euros for outstanding achievements in the field of analytical ontology and metaphysics. Studies of at least 120 pages, which have not yet been published and are written in German or English by a German-language author or one who lives and works in a German-language country, are eligible for consideration.

The award-winning study will be published in the book series "Philosophische Analyse / Philosophical Analysis" of ontos verlag.
